This is a digital reprint of a rare 1902 children’s picture-puzzle toy book. The House We Live In and Book of Trades illustrates in color the various rooms of a Victorian house (parlor, dining room, nursery, kitchen, etc.). Spaces are left blank and the reader is directed to cut out pieces from the accompanying color sheets and place them on the color pages to complete the scenes. |

Furthermore, the second half of the book shows various Victorian trades at work (carpenter, mason, watchmaker, druggist, ship builder) in scenes designed to be completed by cutting out and applying the correct pieces.
In addition, each scene is accompanied by a short tale or poem about the room of the Victorian house or the job of the tradesman.
