Each issue
contained articles, fiction, poetry, and
engravings created by well-known nineteenth
century writers and artists; as well as
instructions, illustrations, and patterns to
create fashion and household items. Godey’s Lady’s Book reached its height
of popularity in the 1860s with an
unparalleled circulation of 150,000.
Each
page of this Civil War era issue of Godey’s Lady’s Book and Magazine was
digitally restored in e-book format. All
original "century old" images were digitally
restored for clarity. The text and images of
the February 1865 issue of Godey’s Lady’s
Book and Magazine can be enlarged and
viewed in close-up detail on a computer (a
valuable feature for the researcher,
collector and historian) or printed to read
separately. |
